Not Part of the Plan- GirlDefined

I was so thankful to again be chosen to be a part of the launch team for GirlDefined’s new book: “Not Part of the Plan: Trusting God with the twists and turns of your story.” I was so excited when they announced this new book. I’ve been so encouraged as I’ve followed the story of Bethany’s long journey of singleness and Kristen’s trial of infertility. Their openness to these struggles have encouraged me so much as I see their love for the Lord grow even in the midst of hard. I remember hearing Kristen share of her third miscarriage at the 2019 GirlDefined conference- months after a big and hard life disappointment for me. I was lost and confused and my only hope was to cling to the Lord as my life didn’t go in the direction I had hoped it would. And hearing the struggle Kristen had gone through and how the Lord comforted and worked in her heart was so helpful.  I was so excited to read this book. I’ve loved every book of theirs. It’s so personable and so very practical. They share thei

Books

Where Courage Calls~ This book was about Elizabeth Thatcher who left her fancy home with all it's comforts to an old mining town that had little comfort and a very different life style, to teach the children there.  She no longer had water or electricity but she had to do things on on her own, like the small tasks of preparing for a new day.  While she struggled to get use to the new life, the people around her struggled with the loss of their husbands, fathers, sons, and brothers.  The mine had exploded and many of the men had died in it, before Elizabeth had come.  Can Elizabeth figure out her calling?  Can she bring hope, love, and trust back to the people of Coal Valley?

The Shunning~ This book was about twenty-two year old Katie Lapp, who struggles with the life of being Amish.  She is unsure of herself and feels that she can never do anything right according to the Amish People. One day her life changed forever, when she find a beautiful baby dress hidden in their attic.  What could it mean?  The Amish people never wore anything so beautiful.  Will her life ever be a normal life again, the way the Amish were suppose to live or would she change and never be the same.  What would Katie choose, to stay or walk away?

The Two Princess of Barmarre~  Princess Addie is shy and afraid of everything while her sister, Princess Meryl is brave and bold, ready to fight all the monsters that bring danger to their kingdom.  But Addie never thought that she would be the one to fight all the monsters and find the cure of the Gray Death because her daring sister was lying sick in bed close to death.  Would she be able to face all the dangerous and find the cure that no one had ever found before?  Would she be brave enough to save her sister?

I Kissed Dating Good-bye~ Dating, courting, and relationships are a big thing in life and many people have different opinions on each one.  People may think dating is bad and horrible while others may think that courting is for losers. I won't make you suffer through my own opinions. :)
This book is focused more on dating and it's pitfalls. The author doesn't really have anything good to say about dating, but he does say that it is not dating that is the problem today, but the people and how they are prideful and only care about satisfying their own desires and not caring about the other person.  He says at the end that whether you are dating or courting there is a way to do it that will honor our Lord, which is what we ought to do.  That requires being humble!
There was also other things in the book that I found encouraging like how we are to act until we begin relationships, and what we should be looking for in a spouse.
